Tierra del Fuego Fjords – PUNTA ARENAS – USHUAIA | 4 NIGHTS

Day 1: Punta Arenas

Check in between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Av. Costanera del Estrecho 1398 (Arturo Prat Pier), Punta Arenas. Boarding at 6:00 p.m. Welcome toast and introduction of the Captain and crew. Subsequently, the ship will set sail towards the extreme South. Through the mythical Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, you will travel through Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.

Day 2: Ainsworth Bay – Tuckers Islets

With the first light of dawn, we will sail through Almirantazgo Sound until reaching the vicinity of the Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay. We will learn how life resurfaces after the ice retreats. We will embark on a walk to discover a beaver dam and the wonderful subantarctic Magellanic forest that surrounds it. On the beach or on the island we will try to spot South American elephant seals. It is not possible to guarantee said sighting because the colony is constantly migrating its location. Continuing the navigation, after lunch we will visit the Tuckers islets where from the Zodiac boats we will see Magellanic penguins and cormorants. In September and April this excursion is replaced by a walk near a glacier in Brookes Bay.

Day 3: Pía Glacier – Avenida de los Glaciares

We will navigate the Northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark in the Pía fjord. We will take an excursion to the viewpoint from where you can see the glacier of the same name, whose main tongue extends from the top of the mountain range to the sea. After this unforgettable experience, we will continue our navigation under the majestic gaze of the “Avenue of the Glaciers”.

Day 4: Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay

We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park, where we will disembark if weather conditions permit. The mythical Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and is an almost vertical promontory 425 meters high. For years it was an important navigation route for sailboats between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is known as the End of the World and was declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 2005.

In the afternoon we will disembark in Wulaia Bay, a historical site that was one of the largest settlements of the native Yámanas canoeists. Charles Darwin, English naturalist, landed here in 1833 during his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. This place offers a visual spectacle of great beauty due to its vegetation and geography. We will reach a viewpoint, walking through the Magellanic forest where lengas, coigües, cinnamon trees and ferns grow, among other species.

Day 5: Ushuaia

Arrival in Ushuaia, the most important Argentine city in Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost in the world. Disembarkation at 08:30 hours.
