Lake Roca Trek, landscapes and flavors: Historical and natural tour of Patagonia

On this tour, we will delve into the history of Patagonia, surrounded by stunning landscapes of steppe and Andean forest. Accompanied by an expert guide, we will explore the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region, while enjoying unique views.

Departure from El Calafate: Route of the estancias

We will begin our journey in El Calafate, from where we will depart for the emblematic R15 Route, also known as the Route of the Estancias or Route of the Pioneers. This tour will take us through a majestic landscape of Patagonian steppe, marked by the footprints of the first settlers.

• The Cenotaph of Rebel Patagonia and the Landscapes of Lake Argentino

One of the highlights of our excursion will be the Cenotaph, erected in memory of La Patagonia Rebelde in 1921. This monument bears witness to a key chapter in the history of the region. Then, we will stop at various panoramic viewpoints to admire Lake Argentino, with its South and Rich arms, and finally we will arrive at the charming Roca Lake, surrounded by unspoiled nature.

• National Park: Eaves with Cave Paintings and Trekking to the Roca Lake Viewpoint

Once inside the National Park, we will have the opportunity to visit the eaves with cave paintings, an important archaeological site that connects us with the first civilizations that inhabited the region. Later, we will make a moderate trek to the Mirador del Lago Roca, from where you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Patagonian landscape.

• Patagonian Lunch at Estancia Nibepo Aike

To conclude our experience, we will enjoy a delicious Patagonian lunch at Estancia Nibepo Aike, where we will be able to taste a lamb on a stick, one of the most representative specialties of the local gastronomy. This tour is a perfect combination of history, nature and gastronomy, a unique way to get to know Patagonia at its best. *Lunch: Roast lamb with salads, dessert, a non-alcoholic drink and 1 glass of wine.

Itinerary:

9:00 a.m.: We will leave Calafate along Route 15, where we will talk about the current situation of Calafate, its flora, fauna and geomorphology.
First stop. 9.30 a.m. Departure from the city and tour of the scenic route 9.50 a.m. first viewpoint 10.20 a.m. Memory of Rebel Patagonia: We will continue along the gravel road, telling about the past, going back in time to reach the history of the estancias and the emblematic strike of 1921 called Rebel or Tragic Patagonia. Epicenter in the Anita ranch. 11.30 am Stop at cave paintings: From the entrance to the eaves of the paintings, we will continue to tell the story in countdown until we reach the first inhabitants of these lands, the Tehuelches. 12.15 pm Lunch: We will continue on our way to the Nibepo Aike Ranch, telling about life in the estancia today and we will have Patagonian lamb for lunch, with salad, drinks and dessert. 14.30 Trekking: Finally, we will go on the hike for a panoramic view and say goodbye to El Lago Roca.
An easy walk and about 20 minutes in slight ascent 17.00 hs return: We will have 1 hour return along the same road to El Calafate.
